A Dragons True Depth

TODAY'S QUOTE:
"Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are but princesses that are waiting to see us act just once with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything terrible is in its deepest essence, something helpless that needs our love."... Rainer Maria Rilke

Wow, I'm still blinking fast, while re-reading slowly... damn ain't words grand when they're strung together magical like that? This quote is a treasure that takes the breath away and expands the mind all in the blink of an eye. Perhaps all dragons do need love to become domesticated... that thought isn't as far out as it would seem at first glance. Running from the terribles only adds to their size and to our misfortune. But facing them can be as beautiful and flawless as ballet if we measure our movements and stay within range of the rhythm set by our soul.

Kindness toward our own weaknesses doesn't mean that we let them lead us into temptation and failure. Knowledge of where our switches are located and what stimuli flips them is vital to keeping things running smoothly. Mastering our dragons doesn't always mean death to the beast, sometimes taming is more than enough to satisfy our needs.

A dragons true depth should always be fully examined. And it's birthplace can give clues to the amount of agony fueling its actions. Soothing a beast is much easier if you know where the wound is located. Wisdom gained during battle is one of the spoils of any well fought conflict.

Anything discovered after a war with yourself is the most precious treasure known to man. One learns quickly to choose weapons wisely, destroying your own internal landscape is a most foolish undertaking. There are things worthy of a good fight, but everything shouldn't be a struggle.

A dragon tamer is a much gentler warrior than one who slays the beast, but it isn't a matter of lack of strength. The former simply knows that taking by force what could be gained by reason is a bullies tactic. Knowing when to stroke and when to strike is the mark of a very wise warrior. Why don't you.... think about it.... let it ride.... then decide???? I did!!!!

Unfortunately many of us strike an slay the dragons. We should all make a valiant effort to look deeper within ourselves and others. Free the dragon or sooth its wounds and in the process learn, forgive, and open yourself to magical possibilities.

  2. Slaying is necessary at times, but shouldn't be our first and only option. We assign power or remove it by force of mind. AND WE ARE ALWAYS MUCH STRONGER THAN WE IMAGINE. Letting our dragons see our strength is good practice for dealing with others. Having control of self is necessary if we wish to control what we allow others to place in our path or pack into our baggage. Thanks so much for comments, sugar! :)

Looking deep within ourselves is one of the most amazing experiences we can have. I held a self-esteem workshop and had everyone use a mirror to look at themselves and go beyond the external and then write about the experience. I did the process myself and WOW talk about going deep!!!! Your words say it all look deep and discover the dragon and princess.

Perhaps the prince is really a troll, standing under your bridge of life holding your feet making it impossible to move forward... yet inside you stay well aware that a new day is comming it's just a matter of releasing your feet from the trolls tight grasp... what to do until then?
What do you do when the troll *dragon* keeps spitting fire or tossing rocks.. and in the process you continue to forgive and to try to help heal.. no matter which angle which new thought you take.. it only helps the troll hold on longer.. and when you totally let go and refuse any response to the troll.. they squeeze tighter than before in attempt to take whats left inside of you? What to do?

  5. Please always remember something... The MORE threatened a dragon is of extinction the MORE desperate its actions. A troll who feels an eviction on the horizon battles its landlord trying to force compliance. The more right you are in your actions the more he squirms. In a real way the extra struggle is a prologue to your success. Never give up at this juncture. Whatever your fighting is much weaker than you know and snarling to frighten you from continuing a war they have no hope of winning. The troll knows the jig is up, but figures if you believe the cause is lost you will cease all forward motion. Pick a song... recite a chant... fill the space in your mind that the troll is trying to contol with positive noise he cannot use to his advantage. A mind left to its own devices is too easily directed by others. And why in God's name would you leave a dragon or troll in charge of the direction of your thoughts?? Love ya' gf!!!
