A World-wide Birthday Celebration

I've often heard it said that words on a screen are all this online experience really amounts to, as if the typing is done by some disembodied spirit, to be read by shadow people who can't feel a thing, no matter what is said. I've seen enough twisted examples of this point of view to make me realize that the deciding factor is simply the slant of our perception, i.e. ... some view the monitor as something to hide behind, while to others it is a magical window for gazing through.

The earth is filled with a vast array of animal life; focus on the snakes and we'll certainly miss seeing the eagle's soaring in all its majesty. The snakes aren't of any importance here, for this is an eagle's tale from start to finish. Those of us who looked through the window... then reached across cyber space, joining together for a common purpose, are collectively the wind beneath this blessed eagle's wings. Together we'll all watch her fly, and be joyful in the shared journey.

Sammy is her nickname... and the coming together of true friends from all over the world is an almost sacred example of what is possible when there are real people, investing in real Internet friendships. For the sake of one, the people who love her joined forces, and the product is a birthday celebration beyond compare. Loving her has enriched each of us, who in our own small way contributed bit-by-bit to a common fund that flowed in from far and wide to reach a total of just short of $1,500 dollars.

The excitement in messages sent and received, plans made and carried out, was every bit as real as the whispers and giggles of party planners who shop together for a surprise party just down the street. The money that came from everywhere, was stored in the vault of Safe Harbor Games, then transferred to the United Kingdom, where the secret shoppers reside. The products themselves ended up on our couch in Concord California, and the delivery began from this doorstep, and ended up at the eagles nest in San Jose, today, September 4th.... Sammy's Birthday.

The microwave, computer, monitor, eReader, a year's bus pass, and 2 gift cards are real... and our Sammy is real too. If for some reason you doubt me, stroll into Safe Harbor Games, backgammon, and enter the lagoon. If you don't see her right away, just listen... she's the one singing her way into hearts from one side of the globe to the other. She's our eagle and we're all proud to be the wind beneath her wings. Happy Birthday Sammy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
