My Harvest

TODAY'S QUOTE:
My mind is a garden. My thoughts are the seeds. My harvest will be either flower or weeds.-Mel Weldon

Tending our notions is a vital link to how we function throughout each day. When taking a long hike, the shoes we choose are the most important deciding factor between failure or success. They govern our speed and comfort. They dictate whether we stride or limp. Even with the right shoes, if we do not keep them pebble free then blisters will be our reward.

Point is... we choose the shoes, and if we are not mindful... we also choose the pebble. If we do not strive to make the right choices, we might as well go barefooted, or better yet just stay at home. The ideal would be to always choose what is sensible to our comfort and success, but none of us get it right every time.

The garden premise of this quote is priceless in its clarity and simplicity. What we plant, dictates what we harvest. How well we tend the garden dictates how rich our yield. And how we prepare the soil for planting dictates the ease or difficulty which the plants have on their first push toward sunlight. Success or failure depends upon the commitment of the farmer to do what is necessary at each stage.

If you are hungry, planting vegetables makes perfect sense. If you seek to fill your garden with beauty, flowers will fill your needs. I cannot think of any benefit that can be received from the planting, tending, and harvest of weeds. Think about it... let it ride... then decide!!!
