TODAY'S QUOTE:
The difference between school and life? In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson. - Tom Bodett
That's a fact that none of us should even try to dispute once a certain level of maturity is reached. Notice, I didn't quote a specific age. Having the widest entryway possible into the age of reason gives us all an even chance. Personal growth is always dependent upon self-awareness of so many independent variables. Real knowledge of our true, "point of view" takes careful study. It's simply too easy to get lost inside of what others feel or think. Real awareness has no timetable. Some, "get it" quickly. Some, "get it" slowly. And some simply never have a clue. Even a blind squirrel is bound to find a nut eventually, but it's never that simple for humans.
We all spend some time making the same mistakes, without realizing that they create the same havoc. We all spend some time simply reacting to bullshit that other people plop in our path. We all spend some time wondering why bad stuff keeps happening. When it finally occurs to us to learn something from our circumstances it's life changing. Realizing that a lot of it is self inflicted teaches us to stop loading the gun if we don't enjoy being shot. Coming to terms with allowing others to dictate our direction is a crash course in map reading that inspires a total redesign of our own destiny. Examples of the lessons to be learned are endless. We each have a puzzle; each one unique, belonging to the soul whose hands direct its solution. Knowledge is power and there is nothing quite as powerful as the self-aware.
Don't confuse self-awareness with being selfish or self-absorbed. Awareness builds strength. The other two are weaknesses that cause havoc and heartache to the ones who possess it, as well as the ones who come too close for comfort. One inspires pain, while the other explains the ache. Knowing why we do the shit we do is liberating. Understanding the lesson behind the test keeps us from needing to experience it more than once. It's a damn shame it takes us so long sometimes to figure out how things operate on a deeper level. But it's always possible to dig deeper. All it takes is a solid tool and some elbow grease. And the reward is always well worth the effort.
Life is really complex in its simplicity. We make things so complicated by blindly rushing past the simplest solutions. We search for the profound outside of ourselves, climbing over the wonderment inside. Look deep, then dig deeper... all the pieces will fit like magic, and all the tests will be worthy of the lessons. Think about it... let it ride... then decide!!!
