TODAY'S QUOTE:
"What humbugs we are, who pretend to live for Beauty, and never see the Dawn!".... Logan Pearsall Smith, 1865-1946, American Writer
Humbug is defined as communication (written or spoken) intended to deceive. This quote accuses some of us of misrepresentation, but I believe most humbuggery of this sort is meant to soothe ourselves more than to trick anyone else.
Every human has a natural love of beauty of some sort, yet too few of us create all that much in the space in which we orbit. We are all capable, but life often overburdens us with negatives that shadow even the most picturesque landscape. It is simply impossible to see the stars while a storm rages overhead.
Ducking for cover is meant to be used for preservation not illumination. Personal safety naturally takes precedence over the contemplation of beauty, yet it is the very people who live in shadow that need its soothing balm the most. Wonders both large and small surround each of us, noticing them amid the clutter takes energy we do not always possess.
Take time to explore the positives when there is a break in your stormy season. Utilize just a moment to point out a vivid image to someone who is hard pressed to find one on their own. Expand your own horizons by profit sharing any treasures. Beauty is enhanced when illuminated... heightened when shared... multiplied by the value we place in it... and eternal once placed inside our memory.
Look around in any chosen direction. Bright gems gleam amid the debris. Stuff your trunk full to overflowing. Fill your pockets. Pay it forward and expand its reach. And as always.... think about it.... let it ride.... then YOU decide!!!!
