An Act Of Goodness

TODAY'S QUOTE:
"An act of goodness is of itself an act of happiness. No reward coming after the event can compare with the sweet reward that went with it.".... Maurice Maeterlinck, 1862-1949, Belgian Author and Nobel Prize Wïnner

Intent plays a huge part in whatever joy any action brings us. The better our intentions are towards our fellow man the more delight our spirit receives from any positives we invest there. The saying "it is better to give than to receive" was founded upon this concept and if you doubt its truth just put it to the test.

When we are poised in a generous fashion negatives cannot find a place to attach themselves to us. Just consider this... it is quite impossible to suck and blow through a straw at the same time. The only thing that can change the direction of flow is doing things for selfish reasons. A greedy nature drains everything it touches and gluttons with an agenda are those wolves dressed as sheep that your mama always warned you about.

Everyone who gains while doing a service for their fellow man is not on the take. Some people give their whole life to serving others and they should not have to suffer real hardship because of it. But no matter what they earn in worldly goods it cannot compare to the joy received from the knowledge that they gave more than they took from life. Lightening someone else's burden is equally empowering to everyone involved.

Soul-joy is one of God's many gifts and it's more valuable by far than any man-made currency. His payment is instant and eternal. It's a spirit based endowment earned solely by unselfish acts of kindness toward one another. You won't grow an inch, but you'll suddenly feel much taller. Our kindness doesn't have to even involve the measure of money; sometimes time and empathy are much more valuable by far. He never rewards us according to how much we give in dollars and cents anyway, but in how much we eagerly give no matter the personal cost we willingly incur.

The fact is that someone who writes a huge check from a bank account of limitless wealth earns much less than someone without a spare dollar to give who gives it nonetheless. And the less you toot your own horn the louder the angels sing. It's also a fact that anything done for the sole purpose of gaining the approval of the masses gets rewarded by the masses. People quickly forget what God never does. If you doubt my word it's quickly proven by quietly lending a hand somewhere, somehow, and feeling the rush of heavenly approval. Think about it.... let it ride.... then decide!!!!
