TODAY'S QUOTE:
It's not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it....Hans Selye
I chose this quote three times. I plucked it first from among dozens of emails I receive daily. I selected it twice when I placed it on my site calendar. Today it got picked once again when I noticed the one chosen for this date is repeated again in just a few days time.
When I think about all the wise quotes and clever words that I have missed sharing with all who read here, the notion of repeating any seems a fools task. Being foolish happens often enough on its own, avoiding it this go round is a hopeful sign, and remembering to be the master of how I react is even better yet.
I have made special note of what has been left undone and will reload them all at a later date. That way nobody misses anything, yet I instantly reduce the mountain into mole hill size, small enough for easy handling. By simplifying I de-stressed a situation that could have left me hopelessly overwhelmed.
The pressures we place on ourselves are so often totally unnecessary, and most times more brutal than what anyone else ever causes us to carry. We are our own worst enemy, when with just a bit of juggling we could be our own best friend. We make demands of ourselves that we would never dream of anyone else living up to, then condemn when we cannot reach the lofty goals we set. Rethinking negative patterns and fashioning reaction that are a more comfortable fit just makes perfect sense.
Stressing over most things is as useless as running in place in a marathon. You wear out long before getting even a few inches closer to a winning solution. Energy expended in a pointless fashion is totally wasted, then when the real struggle begins you are simply too tired to do anything besides be its victim. Be easy on yourself over the small shit and the big shit won't stink nearly as much. And as always... think about it... let it grow... then decide!!!
