The Future

TODAY'S QUOTE:
"The future will soon be a thing of the past.".... George Carlin, American Stand-Up Comedian and Actor

I like this quote and the man who said it; long sight with a twist is delightful to contemplate. I'm by nature and design someone who feels more in control if I have at least some idea of where I'm headed and why. This quote is a gentle reminder that time marches on whether we're ready for it or not.

I prefer to be ready, but that's not always possible whenever your future is linked to choices that others have to make. The future comes even if not invited. Many people would rather live in the past... they make a shrine of it, looking backwards to what was and never really seeing what's right under their noses. I prefer to think I gave my all to the past when it was my present then took whatever I needed into the future.

Time is so brief, each day is worthy of its own shining moment. A moment is over so quickly that the only way to stretch it to its limit is to savor it fully while you can. Sometimes our memories have to last a lifetime, but making your life a monument to any of them is a crime we should never commit. And when you share the cost with a loved one it's twice the agony, without any just reward.

Don't give into the urge to suffer endless heartache for what is long gone while your future slips past mostly unnoticed. Don't demand that people in your present pay the price for crimes created by people in your past. Don't build walls against what could be as a shrine to what was. Don't ignore the future in favor of the past. And as always... think about it... let it ride... then decide!!!
