Coping Rules

TODAY'S QUOTE:
"Expect the best, plan for the worst, and prepare to be surprised.".... Denis Waitley, American Author/Speaker/Peak Performance Expert

Since most often we get exactly whatever we actively search for it's wise to follow this rule of thumb when seeking anything. So many times in life we create the very things we fear by the actions that we willingly take. It doesn't make any sense to create that which we dread, but it's all too common an occurrence in human behavior.

It's easier in the short term to make the same missteps and relive the same agony than to suffer a new kind of hurt in uncertain measures for the sake of the long term. What is familiar is more comfortable even if it is pain. The aching we know becomes like an old friend if we invite it to visit over and over. The toil needed to be mostly trouble free can be brutal, but it's the only way to find any lasting inner peace.

I expect the best every day... I may not always get it, yet the expectation for positive is a clear invitation for it to occur. Each day I wake with a hopeful spirit, facing life with a smile of welcome. If it gets turned into a frown before day's ends it's a struggle not made easy by my determination to be as happy as I can, come what may.

I always have a plan B for times when I get less than perfect results. Having a clear course of action already plotted takes much of the sting out of any negative we encounter. Since a solution won't fall from the sky, training the mind to seek one before it's needed is the wisest insurance against being blindsided and totally derailed.

Life is full of surprises. The magical irony of really living is a constant delight to anyone willing to invest in themselves and each other. Open up your eyes to all the possibilities hidden by the direction in which you focus your attention. And as always.... think about it.... let it ride.... then decide!!!!
