TODAY'S QUOTE:
"For one human being to love another; that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation.".... Rainer Maria Rilke
Love demands many things, but any rewards of a healthy interchange are worth more than anything else on earth. They cannot be bought, except in kind... respect earns respect, and so forth. Whatever measure you give is at least equally returned if it is a love that has true friendship as its base.
It is hard to love someone you cannot call friend. Duty love is less than ideal, but most of us know at least one person whose title demands love even if their actions do not. Someone's label is not always reason enough to guarantee that they are lovable and doing it because it makes you guilty otherwise is a poor substitutions for real regard. Most times it only inspires resentment and it is very difficult to love past a mountain of that negative emotion.
Loving someone who is less than perfect is more than possible, because there are no perfect creatures to chose from. Getting past the petty stuff is much easier if you chose to only make issues out of the things that really matter. Picking a fight over mundane bull-shit is a symptom of a much larger problem. People fight about the stupidest shit and choke down the huge things much too often to be healthy.
If the person you love is your friend then addressing the big things should be an instant thing when they occur. And friends have no good reason to raise their voices when they raise issues, so the chances to battle with a real friend are few and far between.
Love wisely and well. Use a back hoe to pile up the positives and chop sticks to assemble the negatives. Do not ask that they be any more perfect than you are. Do not demand their respect by force, deserve it by action. And as always.... think about it.... let it ride.... then decide!!!!
